Holiday River Tours
The Stranahan House was the home of pioneers in Fort Lauderdale, Frank and Ivy Stranahan. It was originally built in 1901 as a trading post, and in 1906 it was converted to a family home. Today, it is one of the oldest surviving structures in Broward County.
Tours of the museum are conducted by costumed docents. They will show guests the Victorian-style decorations, live music, and other aspects of the house. The house is also beautifully lit up for the holiday season.

In the early 1900s, the Stranahans traded with the Seminoles who often traveled to Fort Lauderdale by dugout canoe. They traded baskets, dolls, and food staples. They also taught English and helped establish the Friends of the Seminoles.
